MSA NEWS

2012 MIDDLE & HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL SCHEDULE: Please find attached the schedule for Middle School Basketball and High School Basketball games.

INFO PRO 6, 7, 8, 9, & 10 GRADES: Due to confusion in assignments given by previous computer teachers. Students have an opportunity to improve their grade. They have until March 15th to re-do any assignment and bring it to Mrs. Stevens for re-grading. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Stevens at lstevens@msa.bm

MUSIC TEACHER: It is with sadness that we announce that Mrs. Alana MacPhee will be leaving our school effective February 22, 2012.  Mrs. MacPhee will be returning to her home in Newfoundland to join her husband who is now working in St. John’s.  We love Mrs. MacPhee and will be very sad to have her leave us.  She has made great contributions to our music program over the past six years.  When we return from our February break, Miss Judy Dickie will be our new Music teacher.  She will be coming to MSA for the remainder of the school year.  Miss Dickie is from Alberta and has been teaching music all of her career.  We look forward to welcoming Miss Dickie on February 28.  When you have a chance, please extend gratitude to Mrs. MacPhee for her time and talent.

MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH HELP: One of the best ways to ensure success is by maintaining high standards of achievement.  Mr. Burgess is offering an extra help session once a week after school.  It will take place Tuesday (Grade 6), Thursday (Grade 8) or Friday (Grade 7) for 45 min beginning January 30, 2012.  If these times are not convenient, he will continue to make himself available as often as possible at recess and lunch times.

He highly encourages all students who require some additional instruction time to attend.  If your child currently has a 65% or lower, he would like to make the extra help session mandatory. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Burgess at mburgess@msa.bm

IN FULL BLOOM CATALOG FUNDRAISING:  The Alumni Association is sponsoring a spring catalog fundraising program. The catalog, entitled In Full Bloom, has been distributed to the elementary and middle schools.  There are extra catalogs available in the school office for any high school parent who is interested, or orders may be made at the school office through Theresa Fletcher or by contacting Elaine Kelly at ekelly@ibl.bm .  All orders must be received, with payment in full, by February 28, 2012.

LIL SAINTS SUMMER CAMP: It is that time of year again!  I am pleased to announce the registration of the ever popular Mount Saint Agnes Academy, Lil’ Saints, Summer Fun Camp.  As always, the staff will be comprised of Mount Saint Agnes teachers as well as University and high-school assistants.  Summer camp will run from Tuesday, June 19 till Wednesday, August 1, 2012! This will be out longest camp ever!

The camp will provide supervision from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the senior lunch room with organized activities starting at 9:30 a.m.  The camp will be open to students from grades K to 5 and the cost will be $185.00 per week.  There is also the option of an after-camp session from 4 p.m. till 5:30 p.m. at an additional cost of $50 per week.  Please see the attached registration form for more details.  The number of students will be limited and last year we had to turn some children away, especially during those first three weeks, so we would advise early booking if you wish to be sure of a place.  There is A LOT of new information on the attached forms so PLEASE read carefully and fill out everything.  If you need another form, CLICK HERE and download additional forms.

Please return a completed registration form with the complete registration fee as soon as possible, as campers are accepted on a first come basis.  If you have any questions about the camp I may be contacted at kwicks@msa.bm

CONGRATULATIONS TO: Connor Sinclair who was the runner up for his Bermuda theme in the 9 to 12-year-old class in the 2012 Lego Competition and Marcus Pimentel whose ship creation claimed the 12-18-year-old title.

The weekend will provide the opportunity to see how accepting this invitation can impact on the way we live each day.

Enough people have responded with a verbal yes so the hotel is booked. However, we would really like to have more participants--- consider it a weekend vacation with the Lord. Registration Forms with details, cost etcetera are in the school office and need to be returned to Sister Judith with a $50 deposit by February 9th.  The full payment will be due with checks payable to the Sisters of Charity either before or upon arrival at the hotel on February 24th.
